INTERVIEW
"summer was a catastrophe waiting to happen. though i say that with the utmost affection, of course. summer was always our little princess. truth be told we were hoping for a boy, what with three daughters already, but you know, god's will and all that. we love her all the same, of course we do! she was a nice replacement as a kid anyhow, a bit of a tomboy, you know? loved having a game of football in the park. then she went to secondary school and became the summer you see today. i don't get it all myself - all the make up and dieting, she's such a pretty girl. but i'm biased. summer is prone to making mistakes, and yeah, she relies on mandy and i a touch more than her sisters do, but she's got a good head on her shoulders. i'm so proud of her. i always say it's not the mistakes but how you handle them that matters in life, and she's handled her life pretty well i'd say. she's a good girl at heart."
bobby blumenfeld, fifty-six
"summer and i have never been on the same page, if you're looking for honesty. there's a fairly significant age gap between us, and it ended up that she and savannah formed a bit of a pair, whilst i was much closer with sylvia. that's not to say i don't get along with savannah, or even summer! but her age has always been obvious. she's a very immature young woman, always has been. she was always babied by our parents something terrible. maybe i resented her for it as a child, but now... she's always been the centre of attention, always demanded to be. but would i swap my loving husband, strong career and well-rounded sons for her raggedy boyfriend, glorified work experience job title and near-absent drug-addled baby daddy? don't make me laugh."
sandra wright, sister
"blurb about the character from the point of view of an ex on either good or bad terms."
tomas martin, twenty-three
"summer is a fun girl. i remember interviewing her for the position, and let me tell you, she didn't give me an accurate impression of herself. she seemed very shy, very eager to please. i suppose she was eager to please in the end - so eager she'd get down on her hands and knees to get the job done, if you get what i mean. summer was a pretty friendly girl, let's put it that way. she started off as most new employees do, introducing themselves to everyone but doing a decent job of keeping their head down to get some work done. that didn't last. a couple weeks in she was calling sick every other day and when she did show, she spent most of the time flirting with the guys in the office or doing her make up in the bathroom. don't get me wrong, she was good at her job! pity she didn't bother with it much of the time. i guess it's true what they say about young mothers."
andy dufour, thirty-seven
"ugh, summer blumenfeld. we went to school together and i disliked her from the very beginning. the shit she pulled... you'd see her complimenting someone and exchanging a glance with her friend, trying not to giggle out loud. then you'd see her 'accidentally' dropping things in front of guys in the year above, before bending over to pick it up, all the while wearing the shortest skirt you've ever seen. i swear to god, i've seen her unbutton a couple shirt buttons in front of male teachers to get out of homework! then she got pregnant, no prizes for anyone who predicted that. she disappeared from our hometown for a bit after having the kid, but unfortunately decided to come right on back. who'd really blame tomas for running a mile? once a whore always a whore, i don't care that she's a sunday school teacher or a supposedly decent mother. it's an act, and not a very convincing one either."
sadie thimpson, twenty-four
"oh my gosh, don't even mention summer's name to me. i miss her so much! she's such a little jetsetter, always heading over stateside. it's tomas' fault, i think she feels guilty for not letting him see trent that much, but anyone who knew the two of them when they were a couple knows she was right to leave. i was telling her to all the time, and she finally listened! we've been friends forever, even though the hard stuff, like trent being really little and crying all the time, and tomas' bullshit. she puts on a big act of not needing anyone, but i think she's scared of being a bad mother, and she thinks that if she can't do it alone then she hasn't got a right to do it at all. summer has never been one to do things in halves. when we were in school she always had a bit of a reputation for being... um... severely unprude-ish, shall we say. it was true too. i don't know why she did it, maybe she just wanted to be loved. silly girl. she's still an utter sweetheart though, i mean, if you look past the whole massive bitchiness thing. it's not the true her, i promise you."
