alexander declan west, accompanied by ripley, alex's de facto best friend. at twenty alex's life has been ever packed with a lot of disdain, and events already. as the oldest child of a family of five, including his two parents delia and colin; a university music conductor, and a publishing CEO, and two younger siblings named keira and theo, alex is the level headed and nonchalant one even through the event that had claimed them all from him. alex's special talent comes in the form of being an utter natural at almost anything. the golden boy of his academy, alex was good at almost anything he touched, but art forms have always been his specialty, specifically he'd become somewhat of a piano affianado thanks to his mother but his his love for water polo came before anything and creating music, painting, and sculpting always fell the the wayside. his ever forming talent with the sport lead him to winning his first title at eight years old, and being accepted to a prestigious summer training program at oxford in england during the summer before senior year. at the end of the summer program a tournament was held and the decision for his family to fly out was easy for them, and with that they hopped on their small private jet to head on over. unfortunately, the plane was going to be sent in for what was believed to be minor repairs after the short trip across the pond, but they never made it across. the news of his family's disappearance didn't hit him until after the tournament which his all-american team won. after the accident, alex stayed with his uncle in london for his senior year, before pondering his college choices. with an acception from columbia in new york city, he told his uncle this is where he'd be though alex found solace instead in ucla in california where no one knew him or anything of him. alex keeps his easy going, nonchalant personality for his best and only friend ripley, named after the sly main character in patricia highsmith's the talented mr ripley and instead is a sarcastic asshole to everyone else around him. alex never keeps people around in fear of just losing them all over again, and never really keeps extended female company around because he doesn't believe that anyone should have to deal with his bullshit, but he did have a long standing relationship with amirah bari before she ran away and left him for what he thinks is no reason instead all of his energy in life in now focused on water polo and his hopes of reaching the olympics.

dane kingston archibald is my veteran bad boy, and all time favorite. a resident to seattle area for college, dane originally hails for the lower east side of manhattan, new york and at nineteen, he already thinks he's a grown man after having to practically raise himself. his parents are traveling archaeologists, and he's only seen them for a grand total of five weeks, two days, and eleven hours in the past eight years. but he's not bitter....right. but he'd probably rather eat barbed wire than let anyone know how much of a toll this has taken on him. birthdays, holidays, and even his graduations were attended not by his parents but rather the housing staff that help take care of the apartment and have become mothers and the chef, nikolai who's become practically like an older brother to him instead. instead of wallowing in his parental negligence, dane immerses himself in his basketball career, and the various games he can play with people's heads. like most of my other characters, he's selfish, deviant, and doesn't really have any regard for anyone else's concerns. ever. star point guard for his college team, dane relies on his basketball skills for his future and knows that if he keeps it up he can make it as a nba player, but its also where his human side comes out. aside from working in a deli, dane is also a kids PAL coach. impatient, inconsiderate, slick, and self complacent dane archibald still manages to have friends here and there that fall within the ranks of la's other assholes, but of course he considers himself the king of all of them. enemies, bitches, and hoes galore, everyday is carnival for dane archibald.
