REASON FOR BEING IN NEW YORK
i'm in new york because i wanted to get out of quebec. i mean, i lived in cannes for thirteen years and then i moved to quebec and it's just like i'm constantly surrounded by french. i'm taking a gap year from my studies in order to persue some of my interests and i thought new york would be a great base for it, i'm trying theatre, art, photography, tennis etc. anything i can get my hands on. plus i really missed my sister.
BEST KEPT SECRETS
1. i'd gladly never speak a word of french ever again. 2. i was my hands twice every morning, before and after meals and before i sleep. once isn't enough. 3. i find the idea of getting dressed really stupid. 4. i write the names of people i've met that day in lights on my wall. 5. i like to think i have a pet fox back at the sanctuary.

INTERVIEW
"béatrice is a pretty extrovertial person, she's glad to just walk up to people and ask them incredibly strange questions to get to know them and quite freequently when she was small she used to lock herself in the bathroom, climb onto the sink and pull herself into the loft of the house and pretend she was a heroine in whatever story she was reading. she had days where she spoke fluent latin and refused to ever look remotely tidy in the slightest. when all of her sisters were obsessed with handbags and shoes and boys, béa was more interested in getting up at dawn and baking, which wasn't always a lovely surprise when she left a note on the kitchen fridge and all of the washing up for everyone else to do while she ran off with whoever she found interesting that day. i wouldn't actually have her any other way, she's a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of my children and i really do adore her."
andréa lapre, 56
"béa? she's fabulous and i've never known someone be able to take such a relaxed approach to fashion and still manage to look fabulous every single day, no wonder she ended up getting signed to an agency, there's just a constant air about her. whenever i'm around her i always feel like i should try and branch out, try new things and be more adventurous because she's exactly like that, she's not frightened of change at all and just puts her neck on the line constantly. i completely adore this girl, my favourite half sister."
alphonsine lannoye, half sister
"i swear béa isn't all there in the head, in as good a way as that can possibly be. she was a fantastic girlfriend, absolutely adored her but we just weren't right for eachother. every morning she'd wake up purposefully waking me up and she walked across the floor towards the window wearing one of my shirts to sit on the windowsill and smoke one of my cigarettes. that's the way i'll remember her, so simple and so elegant and different. she was always beautiful, always different and always loving. she's not a crazily touchy person and she's not very emotionally outward, but once she feels comfortable that's it, she'll run up to you in the street and kiss you then leave. it was a great year we had together. i hope she's doing well."
sébastien rouge, 23
"béatrice was... an incredibly interesting employee. she would climb the shelves to sit on the top and say she was looking out for shoplifters, would stack the toilet rolls in festive shapes and wrote 'encouraging' messages on the windows. i mean i admired her creativity, don't get me wrong, but i had to fire her. as much as she has an infectious personality and air about her, she's useless at following orders or doing what she really should be doing which is rather unfortunate. i can remember the time she was stood, aged seventeen, in the shop window in her underwear putting face paint on manicans and redressing them because 'they needed a change of clothes every day'. i hope she finds a job which engulfs her amazing energy, but then again i don't think there's actually one out there."
ronald burke, thirty eight
"bebe? she's just, oh gosh i can't describe her! she's just the most amazing friend ever, she has the best ideas to cheer you up. most good friends would hand you a tub of ben and jerry's, shove in a good movie, put on trackies, take off their makeup and tie up their hair and sit covered in blankets on the floor with you. nope, not bebe! i remember when i broke up with my fiance, i'm not getting into that, she came over in the prettiest little sundress when it was snowing and handed my a plastic bag with a matching dress in and told me to go get changed quick. we drove all the way to the most southern tip of france in those dresses and took a million pictures and talked about what it'd be like to live in the marie antoinette era. she's just so creative and i really miss her. she's rarely over in france anymore and she never answers her phone, it's sad, but oh well. i'll always class her as my best friend."
emily bourgonoise, 21
"that girl just isn't right, there's something wrong with her right? if not... well actually i'm just positive there is. i can't stand her, she dresses like a homeless person, thinks she's so indie and really cool when really she's just annoying and ugh. i don't want to talk about her anymore, okay?"
léale defore, 21
PERSONAL
but really, i am... just simple and incredibly curious, i'm a four year old stuck in a twenty year old body, but at the same time i'm hundreds of years old in an incredibly young body.
and i live by... "the sky; it's not dark and black and without character. the black is, in fact deep blue. and over there: lighter blue and blowing through the blues and blackness the winds swirling through the air and then shining, burning, bursting through: the stars! and you see how they roar their light. everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes.
